Summer Summer Time.

Hi hi hi!! I love the simplicity of summer.
What I eat and what I wear is much more simple. Like x 1000000.
I don’t have to cook much. Raw foods are way more refreshing in summer.
Even after living on the east coast for 3 1/2 years, Ive never learned to properly dress for winter. So summer…I don’t have to put much effort in dressing as I have to in winter, late fall, and early spring. SEE YA HEAVY COATS ;).
Okay let’s talk summer style. My outfits are mainly dresses or short cutoff shorts paired with a cute top.
I stepped inside Abercrombie & Fitch at the King of Prussia Mall…and I must say, A&F has totally stepped up their game. I found TONS of cute tops!
So thissss strappy tank. Check out the print and and cool back (check out Maddie too lol).

Nails Did.

Well well welllll. I loooove painting my nails and I just realized I’ve never done a nail post. EVER. Weeeird. Anyway, I just wanted to share my latest obsession. Trying out new colors :O!
I’m so not used to this nail color, yet I LOVE everything about it. My go-to nail colors are usually pretty neutral…think red (yes red nails are neutral), black, grey, or blush. Basically, colors that match with everything.
This nail color looks like a mix of a little pink and purple. Soooo you know Barbie pink? This is what I like to call Barbie purple. Like if Barbie decided she wanted to wear purple. This is seriously one of my fav summer colors and it would def be super pretty in the fall too.
Some other colors I want to try out are shades of hot pink (haven’t worn this one in foreverrrr), blue, mint green, and white (hah, another neutral).
What are your go-to nail colors? Have you found any new colors that you love?! Share in the comments below or tweet me @SkinnyAffair.

Yes, you can workout on the go.

Time is of the essence and even if we have routines, they don’t always make it into our schedules. Online fitness videos allow more flexibility into our daily lives. If you’re going on vacay, it’s also hard to maintain your fitness routines. So, as you know, I’m a huge sucker for finding amazing workout videos on YouTube. But recently, I’ve discovered something better.
Meet FitnessGlo, a monthly subscription based website with over 600 video classes to stream. It’s $12 per month and they offer a 15-day free trial.

I’m sure you’ll find a class that piques your interests. The site offers a huge range of classes, such as barre, pilates, yoga fusion, cardio, strength, and HIIT.
My workout interests fall under the yoga/barre/pilates sector and I tend to forget about cardio. One of the best parts of FitnessGlo is their Schedule & Goals section. This section shows how balanced your workouts are. FitnessGlo says, “To maintain balance, the average woman should aim for 55% cardio (I need more of this!!), 30% strength, and 15% stretch in her workouts.”
FitnessGlo will take note of what classes you’re taking, tell you what you need more of (whether it be cardio, strength, or stretch), and you can schedule classes accordingly to maintain your balance. So cool, right?!

I found a bunch of amazing classes on the website. If you’re going to give FitnessGlo a try, I recommend these:

  • Yoga Fusion – On the Go Flow
  • Barre – Killer Barre for Body Sculpting
  • Strength / Core – Multi-Angle Core Challenge
  • Pilates – Lift Your Bottom & Tighten Your Core
  • Stretch – Dancer’s Stretch & Flow

So we love chocolate chip cookies.

Hi, I’m Melissa and I have addiction…I’m addicted to chocolate chip cookies.
Not just any chocolate chip cookie, but THIS AllRecipes cookie recipe. It’s called Absolutely The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I use this recipe, but I have some small changes to it. Here’s my take on AllRecipe’s Absolutely The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe:

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar (recipe calls for 1 cup, but I cut it down a little)
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour (I like unbleached flour, sometimes I do 1.5 cups all purpose and 1.5 cups almond flour)
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk chocolate chips (recipe calls for semisweet, I just prefer milk chocolate
Optional: chopped walnuts (recipe lists walnuts, but I leave them out)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
Chewy centers and crispy edges. Let me tell you!!! They really are absolutely the best!
So anyway…Last month I was trying to be extra healthy and I cut out chocolate chip cookies out of my life. Not good.
You know what happened?
One night I couldn’t take it anymore. I pulled up this recipe then totally binged on like 15 cookies.
At first it was so freaken delicious. Afterwards I felt gross and sick. Literally sick to my stomach. Ew ew ew.
Lesson learned. Do NOT NOT NOT deprive myself from chocolate chip cookies.
Snacking is fine and we all have cravings…so why not treat yourself? Just enough so that you def don’t end up doing what I did. Opps. :X
Because everything’s about balance, ya know?

Suja Juice Time

Suja-Juice-Margarita

Just a super quick, easy, and delish post here!
This is a perf alternative to using margarita mixes, which are typically filled with sugar and some stuff we don’t really know.
In light of Cinco de Mayo tomorrow, I’ve created three skinny margarita recipes using my absolute fave cold-pressed juice brand…SUJA JUICE!
Well, I don’t know if you’d actually call these recipes…they’re way too easy peasey.

Anyway, here’s the skinny on this Suja Juice Margarita:

1. Cocktail shaker: ice, 3 oz Suja Juice, 1.5 oz Tequila
2. Pour into a cayenne & salt rimmed margarita glass
3. Garnish with some lime & drink up!
So, Suja has a bunch of delish flavors, but three that would make really good margaritas are…

1. Lemon Love

Lemon Love contains water, lemon, stevia and cayenne.

2. Berryoxidant

Berryoxidant contains apple, orange, strawberry, banana, raspberry, tart cherry, chia seed, flax seed, baobab & camu camu.

3. Mango Magic

Mango Magic contains apple, mango, orange, pineapple, banana and ginger
Have you ever made a skinny cocktail? What’s your favorite?

Flirty Little Things.

Valentine’s Day is really fun to shop for!
I love treating myself to a few gifts on Valentine’s Day. Here’s some Valentine’s Day style inspiration, matched with a few tips to flaunt your inner flirt.
Style Tips:
– Add some sass to your style with something sheer.
– A little lace is always a good idea.
– Top off your look with a hint of red.
– Show love and Valentine’s Day spirit with a heart.
– Don’t forget the classics, iconic black pumps and a signature scent.

My signature scent is Jo Malone’s Nectarine Honey & Blossom. It’s totally irresistible. This scent is described as “sweet and delightfully playful”. Jo Malone perfumes are all so wonderful, but this is the one that I get the most compliments from.'
