Winter Wear: Fur Accessories

I’ve never really learned how to properly dress for harsh winters. SO DIFFICULT. I mean…I’ve lived on the East Coast for almost three years now. I should know better.

I also don’t really have many winter clothes. Nonetheless, I get really really really excited for blizzards. IDK why. I kind of get really antsy and look out the window every 15 minutes.

So right now, I’m patiently waiting for Winter Storm Juno to arrive by blogging with a huge cup of Tetley Tea (post coming on Tetley soon!) and getting super cozy wrapped up in a blanket. I’m sort of wrapped like a burrito.

My ultimate fav winter accessories are in the form of fur, faux to be exact.

Fur scarves. Fur ear muffs. Fur shawls Beanies with with a fur pom. I love them all!

Fur keeps you warm and dolls you up. Depending on how you style it, these accessories can look really chic, can be worn from day to night, and can look either casual or fancy. So versatile.

Here are my top 5 favorite fur accessories:

Instagram Hacks?

We love a good Instagram post! But I do find it hard to take a good picture to make it look "fashionable" and "chic".  Sometimes my camera angle just does not capture the beauty of my new shoes or handbag. Here are a few tips that Refinery 29 has provided. I picked the top 3 hacks that I need to start using immediately.

The Lewk-From-Above Shot Hack: To make it work, hold the phone above your head with the headphones plugged in and use the front-facing camera to see what you're doing. By clicking on the volume of the headphones, you can quickly take a photo without having to contort your arm or hand to click on the screen. Bonus: One hand can even be in the photo, to better show off your new watch/bracelet/mani (just hide the cord in your palm).

The Organized Chaos Shot Hack: The trick is to start editing while you're taking the photo. Click and hold your finger on the darkest-hued place on the screen and move your finger up or down to change the exposure until it looks exactly how you want it. Doing this before taking the pic is a great way to guarantee your final shot will actually be usable.

The In-Mirror #OOTD Shot Hack: If you grip your phone with your hand and use your index finger to reach the volume button, it's a shortcut to snapping that's a whole lot more comfortable.

Recipe: Easy Coconut Chia Seed Pudding

Lately I’ve been eating a lot of chia seeds. When I mean a lot…I mean like in my drinks, smoothies, sprinkled on food, and my absolute favorite of all things chia seed…PUDDING!
In chia seed pudding, the seeds sort of like soak in the milk (in this recipe, coconut milk) and the seeds expand. If you’re wondering about texture, it sort of resembles tapioca.
So, why do I love chia seeds? According to several studies, chia seeds are…
  • Packed with antioxidants to fight off nasty free radicals (stay tuned for a post on why I absolutely love antioxidants)
  • Almost all its carbs are fiber…so chia seeds are actually low-carb.
  • High in protein, which can promote weight loss and reduce appetite.
  • High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids aka the good fats, which means…hello gorgeous & healthy skin!
Check out my full recipe here.

Revamp Please

A New Year means a new wardrobe for 2015.  I have a tendency to be attached to clothes in my closet that should’ve been let go months ago. Starting this year I am going detox my closet and working on how to get my closet organized and work on my new style for this upcoming year. Personally, I am in the minimalist look and stay to the basic colors of gray, black, blue and white. I do love a pop of color. Here are a few tips I found that will be helpful to organize my closet this year!

1. Detox Your Wardrobe, - go through your wardrobe piece by piece and get rid of anything that doesn’t make you feel confident and inspired.

2. Collect Inspiration- get creative, check out magazines, Pinterest and blogs to figure out what pops out to you. It will help you gather a sense of direction of what style will fit you this upcoming year.

3. Style To Go- Look at stuff in your closet now that will work for this upcoming season. Make sure you have items that are timeless and can be used for anything such as work, dinner, brunch or running errands. Basic items are women best secret.

4. Maintain Wardrobe- make sure you keep your clothes in great condition. Take that blazer or designer coat to the cleaners. Make sure you get rid of clothes that have holes or stains in your closet.  Time to start fresh!

Hopefully these tips will help you look revamped for this upcoming year!!
