Be in Charge of your Life.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We as young women need to be in charge and take steps into certain preventative measures to stop this terrible disease. PopSugar has given some steps on to reduce your chances!

  1. Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight or obese has been shown to be a risk factor in developing certain types of breast cancer.
  2. Check up on your family history. How many people in your family have had breast cancer? If you don't know, now's the time to check. Having close family members who developed breast cancer increases your risk as well since certain risk factors are genetic.
  3. Don't be a stranger to your girls. Self breast exams may not have been given a ringing endorsement from the medical community, but you should still be familiar with how your breasts feel and look so you'll notice any changes.
  4. Drink in moderation. While that glass of red is good for you, excessive alcohol drinking has been linked to an increased risk of cancer. Stick to a one-a-day mantra if you want to reduce your risk.
  5. Keep exercising. Not only will working out help you maintain a healthy weight, exercising itself has been shown to reduce your risk of developing cancer. The American Cancer Society notes that as little as 1.5 to 2.5 hours of walking a weekhas been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Make it your mission to walk or exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, five times a week.
  6. Support the cause. Everyone goes pink for the month of October, so pick a trustworthy organization and show your support. By donating time or money or dropping a few bucks on a cute product for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you'll be supporting breast cancer research that will help millions.
  7. Know the facts about birth control. Taking oral contraceptives is one risk factor for developing breast cancer, but the risk decreases to normal levels the longer you are off them (women who took birth control pills more than 10 years ago, for example, have the same risks as women who never took the pill). Weigh the pros and cons of taking birth control and talk to your doctor if you want to know more.
  8. Assess your risk. It always helps to be informed. Know all the risks of breast cancer — even ones that can't always be avoided, like starting your period at an early age, having a child after 35, or never breastfeeding — so you know what choices you have. Check the National Cancer Institute or The American Cancer Society for comprehensive lists of lifestyle, genetic, and environment risk factors.
  9. Don't be shy at the doctor's. Your doctor isn't just there to admonish you when you admit you have a sugar addiction, she's also there to make sure you are knowledgeable about why and how lifestyle choices affect your health. Make sure you ask questions about anything that's unclear to you.
  10. Relax. Just because you have certain risk factors for developing the disease doesn't mean you'll get breast cancer, or that you should spend your life worrying about getting it. After all, the biggest risk factors for getting breast cancer — being female and aging — aren't exactly something you can change. Instead of worrying, just do what you can to live a healthy lifestyle — you'll not only reduce your risk, but will also feel better overall.

Lets Reset.

HbFit. has provided some great tips on how to reset your life every night before you lay your head on your pillow. Without having a nightly routine you can really cause harm to yourself in the morning. No one wants to wake up feeling sluggish and gross. Here are 5 tips on how to make sure your morning will feel refreshed.

Drink a glass or two of water. Hydrating before bed not only gives you a head start for the following morning, but also leaves your skin healthy and luminous.
Stretch. Unwind from your day by stretching your muscles and soothing your mind. This is also helpful if you have trouble falling asleep; relaxing muscles boosts relaxation and helps beat insomnia.
Wash + Moisturize. We can’t stress the importance of fully cleansing your face and using moisturizer before you hit the sack! While you’re asleep, a clean and hydrated face will help target specific issues like acne and dryness, so take this opportunity to treat your skin!
Turn off all electronics at least one hour before bed. This might be the hardest tip to follow--we know that the temptation to constantly scroll through Instagram or respond to emails is too real. Allowing your mind to unplug is so important to achieve optimal relaxation so switch the smartphone for a good book or magazine!
Make a daily list of 5 things you are thankful for. It is so important to end your day feeling optimistic, so take a couple minutes to jot down things that you are thankful for that day. By appreciating anything as small as the short line at your favorite juice bar or a promotion at work you allow yourself to put things in perspective.

Pour it up, pour it up

Sometimes you just need to put down the glass of wine or that favorite bar drink and sip on some H2O. Our favorite lifestyle blogger Hannah Bronfman from hbfit.com has provided some reasons you need to step up your water game! Trust me I've learned on how to drink water on the daily. My favorite thing I do is to cut up some lemons and cucumbers each night added them to my water in my mason jar and keep it overnight! The next day it’s fresh and detoxes my body! Just keep refilling it through out the day!

You Have Bad Breath
Coffee breath now has a whole new meaning! “If you’re not producing enough saliva in the mouth, you can get bacteria overgrowth and one of the side reactions of that is bad breath from chronic dehydration,” says John Higgins, MD, associate professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Texas in Houston. Being hydrated can help with saliva production, so the more water you chug, the better.
You Get Headaches
Headaches are a symptom of many ailments, but if you’re experiencing headaches alongside other dehydration symptoms, consider this a sign that you need more H20 in your life. "The more water you lose, the more your blood volume drops, which causes less oxygen flow to the brain. That causes your blood vessels to dilate, which can make your headache feel even worse," says Greg Justice, an exercise physiologist and author of Mind Your Own Fitness.
Your Pee is Bright Yellow
A random, but very true fact. Monitor the toilet bowl and note when your pee appears extra yellow. If you're not taking a B vitamin or antibiotic, this can be a direct sign of dehydration, reflecting an over-concentration of waste, which is more easily flushed out when you’re fully hydrated. Simply put when it comes to pee, the clearer the better.
You’re Constipated
Not the most fabulous topic of conversation, but still a very serious sign that you’re dehydrated. A properly hydrated digestive system allows for waste to easily pass through your body—not enough fluids makes this simple task much more difficult on your body.
Tips for Rehydrating
If you’ve noticed any of the previous symptoms, you’re most likely dehydrated. But don't worry, it can be reversed. Be careful to notice when you experience them, this way you can take some proactive steps to keep your body feeling good and looking great.
Here are some helpful tips to get hydrated and stay that way:
  • Drink more water, but not too much! Drinking too fast may cause stomach upset and drinking too much water can cause you to expel large amounts of urine, slowing the rehydration process.
  • Eat foods high in electrolytes and water. Vegetables and fruit are great for rehydrating.
  • Be sure to get a healthy dose of sodium and potassium. Try coconut water for an alternative source of electrolytes and bananas are always a potassium staple.
  • Stay away from alcohol and caffeine, both of which make it difficult for your body to retain fluids.
Whether you're a firm believer in 8 cups of water a day or a connoisseur of bubbly water, we can undoubtedly agree that it's important to stay hydrated. Before your next sweat sesh, remember these tips and ensure hydration is part of your daily wellness.

10 Things Successful Women Do Every Day

Once again Lauren Conrad has given us some great lifestyle tips. Sometimes we forget how great we are as women! Here are some of her tips on what successful women do every day to continue to strive for excellence.

Check It Off-It might seem simple, but never underestimate the power of a to-do list. Checking off tasks is a great way to keep track of all the little things you want to accomplish in a day. I find that to-do lists keep me organized and ensure that I follow through.

Keep A Filing System-
If you work on a computer, I highly recommend having a special system for the way you name your files and folders. Whether it’s by content or date, pick an organizational structure that will make them easy to find later on.

Watch The Clock-Be on time! Whether it’s for an important meeting or a casual lunch with girlfriends, being punctual is a sign of respect. It’s also a good habit to make for every area of your life.

Be Kind-
Some people think you have to be Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada to rise to the top. But, I beg to differ. The most successful women in my life have all gotten where they are by being kind and supporting each other.

Make Friends-
The most successful women I know also aren’t the ones who stay tied to their desks 24/7. They’re the ones who take time out for happy hour with an industry colleague or a coffee break with coworkers. It’s okay to leave your work for a few minutes to chat. You’ll make important connections and probably feel even more inspired when you get back to your desk.

Treat Your Body Right-If you want your mind to function properly, taking care of your body is key. So, take the time to exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep! Your work will suffer if you don’t.

Make Your Bed-
Yes, I am sure that there are lots of successful women out there with unmade beds. But, my point is that a clean space makes for a clear mind. Maybe for you, a clean space doesn’t mean making your bed every day. But, doing something to tidy up, like doing your dishes or organizing your desk, can be just as effective.

Make Time For Yourself-
This might seem counterintuitive to a lot of people, but if you want to be successful, I think it’s so important to do something that isn’t tied to your work every day. Get a manicure, hang out with friends, or find a hobby you enjoy. Being well-rounded and taking time to relax will serve you well, and keep you energized and inspired.

Keep Learning-Successful women make a point to learn something new on a daily basis. Whether that’s soaking up information while paging through an issue of Business Insider, taking seminars, or attending conferences, make sure to always learn new skills and stay on top of your industry.

Set Measurable Goals-
Goal-setting is so important. Think in the long term, but make your goals as specific as possible and revisit them every day. Create a vision board or a list, and keep it where you will see it every morning. Dream big, and you will achieve big things.

What do you think the keys to success are?
