SF. Winter Style.

San Francisco Winter STyle

San Francisco winter weather has been great over the past few days! Its not too cold but not too hot! I am in love with it. Even thou I am stuck in bed with a cold I had to share my outfit inspiration for this great weather! All you need is some winter essentials such as boots, beanie and of course lip balm! I want to keep it causal but still street chic at the same time!

xx-Chauncey

By the way Melissa looked adorable in her last post!! Great outfit for Philly weather!!

Polar Vortex - Snow Day Survival Style

I didn't think the storm would be THAT bad. Boy, was I wrong! Silly me, I walked out in classic black Keds (definitely not snow appropriate)...yes, I changed to boots.

Hmmm...I wonder what Chauncey's wearing today. Apparently, it's 65 - 70 degrees in San Francisco. She's sick in bed :( and I hope she feels better soon.

It has been snowing for over 10 hours, so here's what I wore to stay toasty during  blizzard Janus (...since when did they start naming snow storms?):

1. C.Wonder knit cable beanie with fur topper (similar C. Wonder hat here or ASOS faux fur pom beanie here)

2. Striped scarf (similar LOFT scarf here)

3. Betsey Johnson hooded wool coat with heart twisty toggles (old, similar coats here)

4.  Black Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots with Pink Welly Fleece Boot Socks (old, similar here)

Also, no snow day is complete without hot chocolate & oversized marshmallows. Mmmmmm!

Stay warm!

xx Melissa

Trends to Die in 2013

I wrote this post for TrendHungry.com. See it here.

2013 was full of fabulous and not so fabulous fashion trends. It’s the beginning of a new year and I’m crossing my fingers that these five trends will die out this year. Do you agree? Do tell in the comments below!

5. Overalls

How did overalls become 2013’s latest trend? Overalls remind me of playgrounds and farming. This denim piece should have stayed in the ‘90s and only come in children sizes.

Foodie Friday! Homemade Skinny Croutons + Breakfast Salad

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Introducing Foodie Friday! Chauncey and I have decided that a fashion & lifestyle blog is not complete without food. Foodie Fridays will feature what we're eating and a few recipes.

Here is my recipe for "Skinny" Croutons, followed by what I put in my salad. This recipe will show you how to make a healthier version of  regular store bought croutons.

Ingredients:

6 slices Sara Lee 40 calorie whole wheat bread

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon parsley

3 cloves minced garlic

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees

2. Combine salt, pepper, parsley, and minced garlic

Breakfast Salad:

Lately, I've been eating breakfast salads. I get super hungry in the mornings and found out these keep me full until lunch. My salad is made of mixed greens, slices of red onion, smoked salmon, and roma tomatoes. I don't use salad dressing. Instead, I poach an egg and use the yolk as "dressing" (the egg also adds protein).
